Please be aware that the Board inquired with Congressman Boylan and the Public Works Department regarding concern over the unannounced arrival of a citizen inmate crew last week who are currently working within our neighborhood to repair sidewalks.

We inquired if notice might be given to the neighborhood in the future for these types of details and received the below response:

“Advance notification would jeopardize the neighborhood, our team and the inmates. Our Civilian Inmate Work assignments are structured around a quick response (in and out) to minimize any contact with the general public or exposure to contrabands at a work site. Our goal is to minimize our exposure to a particular location so inmates can’t alert family or friends as to where the next work location is.

Public Works truly understands the risk and rewards from working an inmate detail. By working diligently with the JSO Correction Division, safety measures are taken seriously.”
